The Role
While on the Consulting Industrial Placement I feel like I was given a lot of responsibility right from the start, I didn't do any typical intern work like getting the coffee I was treated like a skilled graduate taking part in Client meetings and given plenty of autonomy over my work.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with my colleagues, I was given plenty of opportunities to socialise with them, which lead to a very relaxed working environment. Having completed my placement I've still maintained the close relationships I forged with my colleagues.
At Accenture there is a buddy system so a member of your team is always on hand to help you with any queries or questions you have. I found this support was invaluable and helped with my personal development over the year.
The workload varied depending on the nature of the project however I thought I maintained a good work/life balance. I enjoyed working hard and the feeling of accomplishment from meeting a deadline and playing hard as there were many opportunities to let your hair down.
Like I said before I was treated as a valuable member of the team from the very beginning working at the same pace as the more experienced people on my team.
I feel like I developed a lot of my core functional skills which enabled me to communicate more effectively and efficiently.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very positive.
The placement year was very well co-ordinated in that our first project was selected for us and from then you were given the tools to find your next projects in an area of your interest.
I found as an intern there was a lot of emphasis on our personal development and growth over the year. Extra training was provided to help you brush up on your skills for example we took part in networking workshops and Microsoft Excel skill sessions.

I will be returning to Accenture on the Graduate Scheme next year which is wonderful as I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with them and its a great place to start off your career in consulting.
The Culture
Yes it was very social, we had several events e.g. the Christmas party and Summer party with colleagues. I also had about 2 team dinners and drinks a week and also gatherings with the other interns on placement.
The events were provided by the company so I didn't personally feel the pinch. My costs of living were low as I already lived in London and was often working away at Client sites.
It's London so there are endless places to go fro entertainment!!
There were many sports teams and societies to join and get involved in.
