    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My 12-week internship was a very enjoyable and challenging experience. Working on a diverse portfolio of events made my work interesting and engaging, and I was given a considerable amount of responsibility that required a diverse set of approaches and skills. The company culture is fast-paced and vibrant, making every day there a great experience and a very fun place to work in.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues; they were always supportive and there for help when I needed it. There was continuous feedback on how I was doing with my work and projects, which helped to put into perspective my role and its importance, pertaining to the particular tasks I was working on. All of my colleagues were friendly and I didn't have any problems approaching someone if I needed to - they were always happy to help.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support and guidance was provided constantly whenever I needed it. It was also provided when management felt it was necessary given a new stage in a project/a new task that I needed to undertake, as well as checking my progress on an ongoing task I was working on. The support given was always clear and very helpful, allowing me to progress in the work that I was doing.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was never a second where I had nothing to do. This suited me as I enjoyed the challenge of balancing my workload and completing multiple tasks simultaneously, but at times it did get a little bit hectic with the amount of tasks I needed to complete. Management was always there for help and they were more than happy to offset some workload if I needed to, but it was a more enjoyable experience to take on as much work as possible and for me this made it a great learning experience. The balance is there if you manage work sufficiently and ask management for guidance when necessary.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot more than I expected. I oversaw my own individual projects that I had to balance with the numerous tasks that I was given on an ad hoc basis. I was trusted to carry out my own research and analysis as independent projects that I would then update management about my progress.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed my organisation and time management skills through balancing and prioritising the many tasks and projects that I undertook. I also improved my communication skills through liaising with my team and by conducting research, which is also enhanced my analytical skills. This complementary set of skills will be easily transferrable for future work and my studies.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office is a fast-paced environment and a very fun and vibrant place to work in. With the hot-desking, no day feels the same as another and you get to see different areas of the firm and what people in other areas are working on. The frequent socials in the office also add to this fun culture.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was organised very well. What was expected from me was set out from the beginning, and my overall time there was structured well. Additional training and meetings were also organised so that I could gain as much insight into the many areas of the company and the line of work entailed.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I did not receive any personal training, but my development was ensured through regular meetings with my manager and my colleagues, where it was set out how I could progress with my work and how to effectively improve the standard of it. 'Masterclasses' were also provided for all of the interns, covering the many areas of marketing.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been welcomed to return, which I would be more than happy to do so. At this moment in time, I am exploring many different lines of work whilst undertaking my degree, but I would definitely consider returning here.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a very good social scene amongst the other interns I worked with, and also with my team and other colleagues in the company. There was always drinks on a Friday by the nearby bars after work, and there were monthly socials in the office, as well as a summer staff party in Shoreditch.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I commuted from Holloway in Islington. I stayed in university accommodation for just the summer months I was there, costing £190 a week. Travel costs were around £90 a month. The bars around Paddington are the usual price you would expect in London, whereas the area I lived in was much cheaper.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Very good for bars after work but not so much for clubbing. A quick travel to Camden/Shoreditch was better for Nightlife.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were some opportunities advertised through emails sent to the whole company, but not many that I got involved with.
