    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This placement has given me so much valuable experience which I can take on and use in future interviews, placements and full-time jobs. I enjoyed meeting the new people, becoming a part of the team for 3 months and really feeling like I made a valuable contribution to the event I was working on.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were a great team to work with and it was a very sociable environment. I felt very valued in this role because I received regular feedback, and praise where it was due. My internship included a role which my team did not have a lot of time to do themselves, which made me feel like my contribution was a big help to them!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager was very supportive throughout the role and even discussed later career options to me and passed my CV on to some of her contacts. We met regularly to discuss my current projects and I was very happy with the feedback and support I was given throughout the process.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This changed from day-to-day really due to the fact that my role was extremely varied. Sometimes I would have a quieter day which left some time to be creative and for example brainstorm some ideas for the team's social media campaigns, and other days I was busy working on several different projects.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The responsibility within this internship grew the longer I was there. Initially I had a few weeks to get used to the company, event and the people, and then after that I was given a project to manage and oversee working with people from several different departments. This was challenging but rewarding and will definitely benefit me in the future.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I learnt have definitely put the theoretical knowledge I learnt during my first two years of University to use. These skills will be adjusted to fit future roles, and importantly I will have a lot of real-life experience to aid me in interviews. The experience will be very valuable to me also when completely my final year of University.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • This office is extremely friendly and there are also people chatting or on the phone. The kitchen areas in the office make a very sociable space and I had a lot of opportunities to meet people from different teams as well as my own. Everyone was very sociable and I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the team.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was quite well organised and each intern was assigned a mentor to discuss our experiences with. The mentor scheme was good but probably could have been started a bit earlier on, as I didn't meet my mentor many times. However, each intern knew who their point of contact was and I definitely felt confident to talk to the team if I had a problem. The interns all met from the start meaning I never felt like I was on my own, and we all met for drinks outside of work as well.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The training within this programme was minimal, but that would have been difficult I think within the time frame that I was there. One day of training could have been advantageous to us and maybe a chance to explore different departments, but I did pass this suggestion on to one of the team.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment options with this company would be very appealing to me because I know that the company has an amazing office with a great atmosphere and the people are lovely! Some people might also like the opportunity to try out a different team and learn about a new event, which I am sure the company would accommodate if they had a position available.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene amongst the interns was really sociable and I can honestly say I have met people which I will keep in touch with for a long time. We all had drinks together regularly, and also had drinks with other members of the teams to meet as many people as we could. Being in London was a great experience for me and a great opportunity to meet lots of new people!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in London is obviously quite high but I believe it is worth it - you will get the chance to meet so many people! The rent in London was obviously high, but a lot of people commuted from home or shared accommodation to make it cheaper. Socialising is more expensive than other places but this is just something which we got used to being in London!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in the area is obviously very large (being in London) but near the office there are some great bars which also have cheap(ish) drinks on offer! Being in London makes it very easy to travel anywhere (even at night) and so we could easily get to different bars within the city if we wanted!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes! There was often emails going around about opportunities outside of work, like a skydive in order to raise money for Great Ormond Street for example! The company has socials and a summer party during my time there, and this gave a great opportunity to meet lots of people and meet future potential contacts!
