  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The organisation treated me like any other employee. I was not treated as a student and given meaningless tasks to keep me busy. I was responisble for full projects and had the same responsibilities as any other Engineer within the department.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was provided with all the training necessary to perform my job role by both the student whom i replaced and by the members of staff. This support and guidance continued throughout the year as every member of staff was allways willing to help.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was treated as if i was a full time Engineer within the department which meant i recieved an equivalent workload. This meant that each week was very busy but suitable amounts of overtime was available to complete all the neccessary work. The pace at which the workload was applied was also brilliant. It ramped up nicely instead of me feeling as if i was sinking.

    4/5

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There have been positive talks about my return to the department. Also the fact that approximately 40% of the office are previous Placement students bodes very well for my future with the company.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The Millbrook scheme was incorporated into the Vauxhall placement system. This was approximately 85 undergraduates based at various sites. The Millbrook scheme felt like it was an add-on to the Vauxhall scheme and it was not intergrated well.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living ok and the salary more than covered living costs. I was even able to save a healthy about for returning to University life.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Poor, Living in Luton was a mistake i made. If i was to do it over i would live in Bedford which is closer to work and generally a much nicer area to live.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Opportunities were minimal due to the lack of intergration with the Vauxhall scheme.
