The Process Management Intern is part of the Business Process Management Team within BMW Financial Services. The Business Process Management Team supports the wider business with governance of their tasks/processes (through ensuring appropriate, relevant, and up-to-date process documentation is kept), continuous improvement of their processes (using the Lean Six Sigma methodology), and the automation of their processes using Robotics (a technology designed to automate repetitive, high volume, manual tasks).

What will you be doing?

As the Process Management Intern, you'll be in an interesting and varied position where you'll interact with stakeholders at every level, including our Management Committee, colleagues at our Head Office in Munich (virtually), and with Subject Matter Experts from almost every area of our business including Operations, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Sales, and IT, giving you a depth and breadth of understanding of the corporate world.

You will work as part the Business Process Management Team, developing your team working skills, as well as the values of transparency, openness, and appreciation. You will also independently deliver your own tasks and activities, therefore developing your organisational and time management skills, as well as your ability to work on your own initiative.

You will receive training in the continuous improvement methodology; Lean Six Sigma, and then put this training into practice through the delivery of improvements to our business processes.

As a team we operate within the Agile Framework (a project management methodology to deliver change), and so you will also gain exposure to this, and take part in Agile meetings, such as; Planning meetings, and Retrospectives.

This internship will provide you with a genuine opportunity to learn and grow, as well as give you a true insight into how a multinational company operates, setting you up for success in your future career.
As the Process Management intern, you will primarily be responsible for;

  • The monitoring of process governance, including conducting stakeholder meetings, obtaining data and information, planning, and then preparing reporting and presentations on this topic to the senior leaders within the (Operations) Management Committee.
  • You will also be involved in the following activities:
  • Verifying As Is (current state) processes and process documentation, and where required creating Process Maps (and associated documentation) for both the As Is (current state) and To Be (future state) processes.
  • Conducting process reviews for the purpose of the continuous improvement of those processes, and you will do this using the worldwide recognised methodology; Lean Six Sigma. You’ll then monitor the implementation of the process improvements that you identified through stakeholder meetings, and reporting of progress.
  • Assisting the transformation of the culture of the business in regards to building a Continuous Improvement mind-set, you’ll do this through; creating and analysing surveys, assisting the facilitation of workshops, and supporting training activities, etc.
  • Supporting automation initiatives through the completion of fact finding activities, including stakeholder interviews, analysis of the As Is (current state) process, and data gathering, and you will then then use this information to create a detailed business case outlining your findings.
  • Sampling of data in relation to Quality Assurance and the performance of external providers, and then reporting on your findings.
  • Supporting team administration as required, including chairing and minute taking of meetings, writing summary communications (news articles) for issue to the business, and maintenance of the Business Process Management internal intranet pages.
  • Qualifications

  • Studying towards a Bachelor degree - preferably in business or other relevant field with a predicted grade of 2:1 or higher.
  • Confidence to communicate with senior management.
  • Confidence to challenge the status quo and put forward suggestions for improvement.
  • Ability to be pro-active, self-starter with a high level of initiative.
  • Ability to prioritise activities, work under pressure, and multi-task.
  • Competent knowledge of Microsoft packages (specifically PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Relevant training will be provided, but any initial knowledge of process mapping, governance of processes, and/or Lean Six Sigma or similar would be an advantage.
  • This internship would suit someone that's keen to get an overall insight of several different functions of a business and enjoys dealing with multiple stakeholders.
  • Applicants should have some work (or volunteer) experience that evidences their ability to work within a team, and independently.
