Veneer Production

The Interior Surface Centre at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is split into two distinct production areas, responsible to manufacture all interior veneered or lacquered parts for each of the Rolls-Royce models, the process involves manufacture of substrates, veneering, sanding through to lacquering and polishing elements. The complete process combines a number of technical elements, from material sciences related to the use of natural and technical veneers, through hand-craft elements, and also machine based processes such as hydraulic pressing and milling.

This role will be based in the production management team and plays a vital support role for the operational management processes in one of those two areas.

The management team led by the Production Managers is spread across a two shift model, and consists of shift managers (Process Leaders) leading area specific teams (Process Supporters). During your time at Rolls-Royce you will gain hands-on experience through supporting these positions on a daily basis. You will be involved in problem solving and a daily interaction with the problem solving meetings, supporting sourcing of materials and tools necessary for daily production as well- carrying out other day to day tasks. In parallel to this operational support you will complete longer term, strategic tasks to bring improvements into the process and infrastructure of the area.

What will you be doing?

  • Analysing and optimising of the existing production and the flow of material between the departments
  • Support the ordering process for production consumables
  • Support and implementation of quality improvement
  • Improve efficiency and versatility of production machinery
  • Analyse and optimise Kanban levels and implement improvements
  • Supporting the implementation of VPS (Value added production system) principles throughout the ISC process.

Qualifications and Experience

  • In progress to achieve an Engineering degree. Can be Mechanical, Automotive, Manufacturing or Industial Engineering.
  • English language to professional standard.
  • German language is a benefit.
