Human Resources Industrial Placement

Unilever has a clear purpose: to build a brighter future for our world. People are fundamental to making this happen, which is why HR is considered a core rather than a support function, and plays such an important role in shaping business strategy. Within HR you will help to create an environment where all of the people in our huge and varied culture can bring their range of skills and goals to best use: for a better future and for their own fulfilment.

Our people have the opportunity to make a big impact every day on a local level, across Europe and the globe. We have a proven tradition of developing our own purpose driven leaders and encourage innovative thinking.

What will I be doing?

Supporting the wellbeing and championing the success of the 172,000 people working for us worldwide. We need HR people who are insightful and inspired to develop colleagues and the capabilities required for our winning business. Wherever you’re based in the business, you will gain experience of driving culture change, managing employee relations, developing talented individuals and leaders, turning around the performance of teams and much more. It’s all about shaping our organisation from within.

What do we look for?

People skills are essential. The role of HR in Unilever as a core strategic business area means we look for people with an interest in business and the courage to offer creative insights and execute change. Individuals who are mindful and responsive to contexts and audiences, with the ability to build relationships – a talent in influencing and negotiation will go a long way. No specific subject degree is required.

With a strong performance culture, challenging goals and continuous feedback, we will support you to achieve your potential in an inclusive environment. You will thrive by gaining exposure to real business challenges where your energy and fresh thinking will have an impact. First-hand experience- it’s the fastest way to learn.

Students must have completed the penultimate year of their undergraduate degree by the time they start their placement and be returning to study after their placement.

Our Human Resources Management Industrial Placements are a chance to showcase your thinking and skills, with total support from a line manager and a buddy.

We also have excellent benefits to support you through your placement including a salary of £20,000, 20-25 days’ annual leave and training through virtual and instructor-led sessions.

Our application process involves;

  • Online application
  • Digital interview
  • Half day selection board.
