Information Technology Placement
In the 12-month Information Technology (IT) Internship, you'll gain invaluable skills and experience.
Our Livingston site is predominantly software development of a Distribution Management System. This product essentially ‘keeps the lights on’ in the UK as it is used by nearly all of the UK power companies, and many more across the world, to distribute and maintain power throughout the company. It is part of the critical national infrastructure – so really important! Our interns will have the opportunity to be part of something that is essential.
From Livingston, we also support the Power companies and deliver the product to our customers then upgrade it.
Projects/Responsibilities
You will be aligned to our SAP ERP & Enterprise Standards (ES) Integrations programme within the Finance domain.
There are 10 ES deployment and ERP integrations planned for deployment in 2018/19, in over 35 countries with Grid Solutions business presence. Scope of work will be one or more of below areas, but not limited to:
- Rolling out integrations to new countries after successful launch in pilot site
- Project tracking, status reporting, stakeholder co-ordination, etc.
- Use GE Digital tools to build simple forms/reports
- Recording, communicating & follow-up of actions from meetings
- Co-ordination of user testing activities & defect tracking
- Query SAP system through user-interface and extract simple datasets as needed
Person Requirements
Essential
- Currently studying towards an Information Technology related degree – penultimate/final year
- Keen interest in the position
- Able to take ownership for projects and work to time limits
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Able to work as part of a team

Useful Information
The internship will start between June to August 2018 for a duration of 12 months. We currently have internship opportunities in Livingston (Scotland).
