Business Support Assistant

This role is based in the Planning Team of the Panasonic UK’s Consumer Group, part of our UK HQ operations for both Consumer and Business products. The position is largely a business process, systems focused role, working with leading market software packages such as SAP, Qlikview and Exceedra. Prior knowledge of these specialist systems is not expected and all required training will be given. The position is broad and varied, interfacing with all the key commercial departments within the organisation.

The role provides a high degree of responsibility and the ability to play an active part in Panasonic’s UK business. There are two key areas covered by the role:

  • Working with the Planning team to support Sales and Marketing operations by providing reports, analysis and data.
  • Taking responsibility for data and report preparation for environmental reporting requirements and maintaining Panasonic’s ISO14001 based Environment Management System.

Role Purpose:

To provide a wide range of systems and general support to both the Consumer Department and the Environmental team. This will involve delivering reports utilising existing solutions, helping develop the systems further and documenting such work, as well as being able to engage with wider topics and projects that are active during the placement year. This will enable the successful applicant to gain a general understanding across different parts of the business including Sales, Marketing & Finance. It requires strong numeracy and IT literacy but first-class communication skills (written & verbal) are essential as the role involves contact with staff at all levels.

Outline of Duties:

Point of Sale (POS – Dealers’ sales and stock data):

  • Manage the weekly POS data uploads
  • Map new materials and fix errors to ensure reports are always accurate and complete
  • Assist with the development and expansion of the Dealer data coverage

Rebate Processing:

  • Raise rebate credits on request of Finance
  • Reporting for the sales teams
  • Yearly analysis of agreements and terms
  • DAS (Discretionary Advertising Support) rebate agreement closures
  • DAP (Display Allowance Plans) Process – design annual DAP order sheet in conjunction with sales and marketing teams. Calculate, analyse and raise DAP credits in SAP.

Master Data Support (SAP):

  • Supporting the maintenance of master data in SAP
  • Material set up analysis and coding
  • BW report writing
  • SAP Testing of new systems and processes

Environmental Reporting (EMS):

  • Responsibility for the maintaining and reporting of data relating to waste legislation (utilising SAP systems).
  • Maintaining and improving Panasonic’s Environmental Management System (based on ISO14001 methodology).

Sales Team Support:

  • Assist in the maintenance of the Margin Tracker Report for the Sales teams
  • Provide data and reports as required
  • Supporting the business following the implementation of a new demand forecasting solution, with particular emphasis on reporting and process documentation.

Project Work:

  • In addition to these duties there is the potential scope to be involved, or even lead projects that support the business, dependant on business need during the placement year.

Person Specification:

This position is focused on business and data systems and process control as well as providing the opportunity for potential wider engagement. It is most likely to appeal to those who have a strong interest in business and how large companies work at a local, functional level as well as enjoying working with data analysis, systems and procedural control.
