RSM was a great company to work for, they made sure you were fully involved in team work from the start of your placement year. You were given lots of opportunities for training, this training included excel courses and accountancy courses. These courses developed my skills hugely. The Corporate finance team I was in at RSM were all very nice and made feel part of the team. You were given lots of work to do and given work that expanded your knowledge base.
I have enjoyed my work placement much more than I expected, given the often negative view of the industry. It has been challenging, but at the same time I have enjoyed the role and felt motivated enough to work hard. It has been a very positive experience that has given me a lot of insight into the industry.
I very much enjoyed my 12 months Placement with RSM and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a career in Accounting and Finance. It gives you a great insight into working in a corporate evironment and the different roles you could pursue in the field. I feel I have a learnt and developed a lot, which I look forward to utilising in my final year of studies and beyond.
The placement was hugely varied and due to the on-site, client based nature of the majority of the work I was able to gain good experience of a range of different sectors. This also ensured that if you were on a less enjoyable client, you were not on this for an extended period of time.

Overall, it was a good placement year and I definitely gained a lot of experience in the role. The role itself is not the most exciting however the work is challenging and various audits can be interesting. Over the year I was introduced to a lot of scenarios which will benefit me greatly going back to university and during my career as a whole.
I loved the opportunities and experience in which the job entailed. Working in internal auditor meant that every day was different and there was many different sectors which I was able to experience. Working as part of a graduate scheme meant that I was able to experience what it was like if I were to come back and work in the company.
I really have enjoyed my work placement. I have enjoyed all aspects of External Audit and this has year has confirmed to me that this is the type of job I would like following Graduation. This would rate this experience higher but it was frustrating at times because other people who started at the same time as me would receive more internal training than myself. I understand this is because they did not want to invest too heavily in me as I was always going to be returning to University after 12 months.
I really enjoyed my placement at RSMUK in their Risk Assurance department as an Internal Auditor. The placement gave me the same opportunities as a graduate with the same amount of responsibilities. I learnt more than I every realised I could! The placement started with a lot of learning, both on the job and on courses. This quickly progressed into working towards clear target and being given more and more responsibilities as time went on.
I really enjoyed my placement with RSM. I fully engaged with the firm ethos and the mentality needed to ensure a effective placement, this made the whole placement experience enjoyable. Because of this I really became an integral part of the audit team and integrated with the team well, enhancing the enjoyment.
Personally, I enjoyed the role a lot! You are sent on a variety of training courses in the first month and meet lots of other graduates, school leavers and placement students from across the country which work in a variety of different roles. The longer the role goes on the more responsibilities you are given.
Very much so, I was able to participate in a wide variety of marketing activities and was ultimately allowed to lead my own projects, which was very exciting and rewarding. Having the opportunity to worth with everyone in the marketing department meant I not only had a good variety in the work I was doing, but learnt a lot from those experiences
Between August and 31 January the race was on to complete all of our clients tax returns before the January deadline. This meant two things; firstly, it was in my colleagues interest to help me learn and to ensure that I had the skills needed to do the work given to me. Secondly, it created a fast paced atmosphere with the excitement of a deadline approaching. Following January until around the end of May the placement became very slow as there was not the quantity of work needed to keep everybody busy. This meant that I spent a lot of my time doing more admin based tasks. However, on the whole I very much enjoyed the placement and would recommend it to anyone who was interested.
Although I applied for the position of Audit Assistant, I was actually exposed to a variety of work. I seconded to 3 different departments within the firm (Audit, Restructuring Advisory and Assurance & Financial Reporting) and have a more defined idea about what the work is actually like on a day-to-day basis and whether I see myself doing said work post graduation. This is why I have enjoyed my work placement as the experience was rich in variety and has since improved my understanding of this industry - what I believe is the point of a placement.
I had a very enjoyable experience on my work placement, as not only were my team great to work with but I also felt welcomed in to the wider office and other departments. The work I was completing was challenging and stimulating, this helping me to learn vital skills for my final year and further career. The social committee are also a big asset to the office as they allowed me to start up a work netball team. My aim was to create more integration in the office between departments while also maintaining a good work-life balance. I was given opportunities to attend meetings and networking events to progress my communication skills with clients and intermediaries. Overall I have had the best and most valuable experience working at RSM.
