Describe your role and what it entails

I'm the Luxe Corporate Commercial intern, this means I help my team oversee the commerce of all the Luxe brands, including their performance in their retailers amongst competitors and on their Direct-to-Consumer websites.

What have been your highlights?

Each week, I get better and better at the tasks I'm assigned to do, I think a highlight would be getting really positive feedback from my manager after presentations that I was previously super nervous for!

I've also made some amazing memories with the other interns, although it's only been 3 months so far, I feel like I could be friends with some of them for the rest of my life!

What have been your challenges?

I think my time-management skills were definitely tested when I first started working here. There are so many opportunities at L'Oreal; completing the requirements of your role is only a fraction of the intern experience. Scheduling in participating in various Committees, networking, upskilling myself in areas outside of my role etc. was difficult at first but I soon learnt that if you organise your time well, you can definitely fit it all in!

What advice would you give to a student following in your footsteps?

I would say to make the most of every opportunity offered to you within your capacity! Time flies by whilst you work here because you're having so much fun. Make sure you set goals and ensure that each day, week and month you're progressing towards achieving them!

What have you learnt from your experience in the role?

Working in a corporate role, it’s been so interesting seeing the theoretical knowledge that we learn at uni applied in real life, I've learnt the actual use and relevance of my academic work in the working world. Now having this understanding means I'm going to go into final year a lot more prepared and ready to build on the knowledge and experience I have accrued during my time at L’Oreal.
