  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I loved the experience that I had while working with Verizon.

  • My colleagues were very helpful during my placement. They were always ready to help and answer all the questions that I had.

  • My management and my team was very helpful throughout the placement.

  • I used to have a very busy day including 2/3 hours calls every day.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was always told by my team that they considered me like a full time employee rather than an intern and therefore the amount of responsibility that I was given was the same as any other full time consultant would get.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned how to communicate with people higher than your position. Also I learned how to do time management as I used to work on 3 projects at one time. This will enable me to meet my targets while completing my degree.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My whole team was located outside the UK and therefore I used to be alone from my team in the Reading office.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Eventhough my whole team including my manager was outside the UK. I still used to have daily calls with my team, where they used to explain me my day to day work.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I used to get a weekly training of 3 hours, where I could choose what type of training I would prefer to do. Using improved my Microsoft and management skills.

  • I would love to come back to verizon any time in the future as I had a great experience while being a part of verizon.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We used to have an intern community where we could share our experience on a biweekly basis. The intern community arranged several events such as the sports and Christmas event.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I did not live in that area, as I used to commute.

  • I did not live in that area, as I used to commute. However there was a city centre just 2 miles away from the office.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes there were. The city centre was just 2 miles away from the office. Apart of that the intern community used to organise events every 6 months.
