  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I found the placement very useful, both in terms of knowledge/skills gained and supporting my post-university career.

  • I have received a large number of positive comments, and found the work atmosphere very encouraging.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was supportive and could always offer guidance, although I had plenty of opportunity to work independently.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was lack of work iitially as my software was not installed on Day 1, but from then on was generally good.

  • As I was in a 2-man team, I had plenty of responsibilities.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have not yet completed my degree but I feel that my placement has been beneficial, both to completing my degree and my career beyond university.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was encouraging and stimulating.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The induction process could be improved, but the majority of the placement went smoothly.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They ensured that I went on training courses designed for permanent staff, and that I was able to acheive my personal objectives. They also gave me university sponsorship and paid Summer work.

  • I have Summer placements with them whilst at university, plus invitation to apply to them after university.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Several of us worked at National Grid and we had good social lives.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Easily affordable on our salaries.

  • Some good places, although some undesirable places also.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were many opportunites available, through the company as well as the nearby Warwick university and self-provided opportunities.
