    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really interesting placement, felt like Lloyds had matched my interests really well with where I was placed.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • They all really went out of their way to make me feel welcome; everyone was extremely friendly, really made an effort to make me feel included. If ever I was interested or wanted to be involved in something, they were always willing to let me sit with them or explain what they were doing to me.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given reasonably clear guidelines at the beginning of what was expected from me. I feel like my line manager could have been a little more approachable; but I was assigned a mentor who was very friendly and I felt able to go to her with any questions.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a couple of occasions towards the beginning of my internship, I felt I could have had a little more to do, but as I got in to the role, I was able to ask for more tasks when needed, and involved myself with another team when I felt able to add to my workload.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I wasn't given loads of responsibility; I had a couple of projects which I was responsible for. In some ways this was nice though as it meant I felt able to get involved in other things and could think about my own personal development as opposed to just the tasks I was assigned.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel like I've gained a really valuable insight into a sector which I had little knowledge of before. It has certainly given me something to think about with regard to my future career options.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was often relatively quiet in the office but this was generally because people were hard at work. It was still an approachable and friendly atmosphere though.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Lloyds had organised the induction event very well and I felt like the office were ready for me when I arrived. Everything seemed well prepared and the internship was clearly structured.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Everyone was extremely accommodating; where there were areas I was interested in, colleague were always happy to share advice and ideas and were extremely helpful. Everyone seemed to be mindful of where I am in my career journey and often mentioned that things may be useful for me in the future.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Where I was based was quite a small team so there are limited graduate opportunities, I would be keen to go back but it would depend on whether a suitable role was to become available.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Good social scene among other placement students however given the small team in the office the social side of this was a little more limited.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is of course an expensive place to live but I'd expected this before I came, and we were paid sufficiently to allow for this. As in any city, you can find the better value places to socialise and so this didn't really impact on my enjoyment of my time.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Of course there's always things going on in London, there's something for everyone in terms of nightlife from cool bars to different shows and events on in the evenings.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there's always loads of stuff going on in London so I really enjoyed being able to get involved in loads of other stuff; I certainly managed to keep myself busy outside of work.

    4/5
