    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time in LBG, I worked in HR in the Digital area and found Digital such an exciting and forward facing part of the bank. The colleagues that I worked with were all so supportive and lovely and really made me feel part of the team and that the work that I was doing contributed to the bank. I was given projects that were challenging but interesting and I never felt that I couldn't ask for help when I needed it. I will be sad to leave my internship and have enjoyed it so much.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues made me feel so welcome and part of the team. I was included in everything and really felt valued and needed. They were always welcoming and would greet me and others with a smile and it was a pleasure to work in a team of such kind and caring people.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was really supported by my supervisor. She was a pleasure to work with and I always felt so comfortable and excited to go to work because of her. There was nothing I felt I couldn't go to my manager for and I always felt supported and feel as though I have grown during my internship due to her guidance.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It varied depending on how the projects I was working on were going. Some days I was so busy and others not so much but I enjoyed the constant change in work pace and feel as though it balanced out to a perfect level over the 10 weeks. It was a great oppourtunity to get involved in a lot of the projects and the days that I was really busy were a good challenge and I really enjoyed them.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement. It was not, however, too much and I always felt I could cope with it and also felt that I had the oppourtunity to always say if it was too much and I was struggling; this happened rarely though as my colleagues were always concious of how much work to give me.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Time management was a great skill I have learnt during my internship. This will definitely benefit me during my degree as I am now aware of how to keep on top of projects that I am involved in and also how to prioritise what I need to do. I feel as though I have learnt to become more organised and efficient and this will prove invaluable during my remaining year at university and also throughout life.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in my office was incredibly exciting. Digital is such an exciting area to work in within the bank and there were always events and social functions going on. It is a very laid back atmosphere with a smart-casual dress code and everyone was incredibly friendly and laid back. It is a very creative atmosphere that is helped by the ability to portray your ideas and to create by things such as whiteboard walls in meeting rooms.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was very well set up, I felt supported throughout the entire thing. The induction day was incredibly engaging and exciting and I felt like a part of the business and part of digital straight away. There were clear structured projects for me to work on during my ten weeks and I felt as though it was well planned out and the perfect amount for the time that I had. There were also projects not specific to the area that I was working in which gave me a good insight into different areas of the bank.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I received a lot of investment. There were many training oppourtunities including the digital academy and also different work shops. There are weekly Digital espressos that enable colleagues to learn about different events going on in Digital which were incredibly exciting and interesting.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Working from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work for LBG after this internship. To work for a company that is so customer focused and always wanting to do the right thing would be a pleasure. After starting my internship with little faith in the banking industry I am now completely convinced that LBG always tries to do the right thing for the customer. I am hopeful that I will be accepted on to the grad scheme and hope that in future years I will be working with LBG.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a brilliant social scene. Digital hosts end of month drinks where they provide drinks and entertainment for all colleagues working in Digital. This was a fantastic way to get to know your colleagues and also the other interns working within the business. There was also a brilliant social scene within the other students. Everyone was keen for after work drinks and there are also multiple events hosted by the students that you can get involved in and get to know everyone and meet others from different buildings in London.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is an expensive area to live and socialise in. It is however the capital so should be expected. Its a fantastic and exciting area to live and socialise in and you are able to spend as little or as much as you want depending on the type of place and night you want to go to.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London is an amazing place to go out in. There is something for everyone. Clubs with every type of music you could think of and countless bars and restaurents for those who are not as into clubbing. The nightlife in London is fantastic and there is always something exciting to do.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Activities were given to me such as the Day to Make a Difference. This is an initiative set up by LBG that allows colleagues to get out of their day jobs for a day and to do some charity work. There was also the oppourtunity to work in a branch for a day to see how it all works and the real customer facing side of things.
