    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Unforutnate not to be based in the London office and thus did not experience any of the 'social side' of the LLoyds internship. The work was occasionally interesting and stretched me, although the majoirty of the time was relatively boring. My team were very supportive and friendly, and there was a very nice office atmosphere.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Early on the internship, I completed some good work and was clearly aprpeciated within my team. However, a lot of the time I was given little responsibility and occasionally felt as if I was a bit of a 'spare tool' being based around.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • LBG puts a lot of emphasis on personal development. Weekly meetings with my line manager to discuss my development goals, along with various online development tools really helped during my time at LLoyds.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Generally only had half a day's work to complete. When approaching my line manager for additional responsibilty, was often told there are no further tasks I can help with. This was a little disappointing.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Given responsibility to contact and maintain relations with senior management, along with various stakeholders within the business. I was also running a small project during my internship which, when I finally produced the results, handed them over to my line manager who took my word they were correct and used them. I was really impressed with my teams willingness to hand over responsibility.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly and relaxed. Hours were quite flexible, since I was in a back office role, and the majoirty of team members were also willing to help out and assist if I had any queries or problems.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Often not given enough work. When my line manager went on holiday, I was not properly passed on to another team and found I had very little to do on a day-to-day basis.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Weekly meetings with my line manager, and access to online development tools, along with Webinars to explain the basics behind banking.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Healthcare/Dental

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • From a financial perspective, the grad scheme is VERY appealing. A great starting salary of 28k (+ London allowance if based in London), with a 3k signing on bonus. After the 2 year grad program there is an opporutnity to apply for job roles commanding a salary in the 30k region. On top of the salary, LBG provides heaps of benefits to its workers, namely: 4% additional 'flex' salary for the purchase of health care, additional holiday, and various other benefits £200k Mortgage at BoE base rate Bonus scheme Generous ShareSave scheme However, I have not particularly enojyed the work I am doing here. So I feel there is a trade off between job satisfaction, and a high salary + employee benefits

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • N/A

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Reasonable.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Great fun!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Due to flexible working hours, I managed to maintain my involvement in various clubs outside of work, as well as engage in generall fitness e.g. running and the gym. There was never any overtime requirements over the weekends so I had every weekend to get involved in activites outside of work.
