    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I did enjoy the majority of my internship. Most people were welcoming and eased me into the job and I had lots of things to do throughout the summer. It was quiet hard settling into the working life but quite relaxed working hours helped, and having a team and other interns on the floor was really great

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I did feel valued in some aspects, but naturally it is hard to be 100% valued when they know you are only going to be here for 10 weeks. It would have been slightly better to get a bit more responsibility but i also understand why I could not be given full responsibile duties. I was in charge of very small things, which other people could always have done instead.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was supported by my whole team. When my line manager was away there was always someone I could talk to, and the greater team were helpful too. My mentor was also a key contact for me, and other interns/grads were super supportive

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It varied -some days were very busy but some I wasn't doing a lot. I could always ask for more but sometimes there wasn't any more work that I could do. The busy days were the best because they go so quickly!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My responsibilities were not grand. I was in charge of small things, as mentioned above, and even then sometimes it wasn't vital that i did them. This is understandable for interns but i did enjoy the small responsibilities i had.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training was excellent and I am 100% sure i will use the basic skills I developed in later life, if i join banking or not. It was also a great insight into working life and being in an office for 10 weeks automatically develops skills necessary for any career. I was really happy with this.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was friendly, but also quite scary at times. It is open plan so on the phone you can always be overheard whatever you are saying. However, the majority of my floor were really nice. There is always lots of food to be shared!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The Emerging Talent team set up the internships really well. There was an opening event to welcome all interns and there is a general really great rappour between all interns and the set up teams. Instructions for next steps and balanced score cards were always clear and there was good communication with line managers.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested greatly in us. There were multiple training sessions and webinars so we could develop ourselves as much as we wanted. My team always encouraged me to get involved with as much training as possible. This part was really great

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely consider taking a job with Lloyds on the graduate scheme if I get offered it. All I learnt about the grad scheme was really positive and I am looking forward to finding out whether I have earned myself a place.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, all the interns had lots of opportunity to mingle. A lot are staying in the same accommodation and there was also a welcome breakfast specifically for interns on my floor which was really great. The social scene was one of the best things about the internship

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I could walk to work which was great for money. There were lots of socials with people on my floor both in the accommodation provided and also on my working floor which was really nice to be included in. Costs only included lunch during the day really. We also got lots of free drinks which was great!

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • In London City the nightlife for after work drinks was great. We could go out whenever we wanted and were encouraged to join people we were working with. Nights were organised which was fabulous.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I didn't really get involved with activities to do with work apart from drinks nights mentioned above. The main activity was football for the boys. However i did get involved with activities with the other interns, but that was through ourselves, not work. More activities would maybe be something to suggest to Lloyds for next year
