    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • During my internship I feel I have been pushed out of my comfort zone which consequently has developed and stretched my abilites and skill base which will be invaluable for my career path to follow. I greatly enjoyed working within an engaging and fun team who were constantly on hand to help me when I needed it.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel my ideas and contributions are continually valued within LBG. My colleagues are consistently inclusive and dedicated to involving me in multiple projects, giving me full exposure to the workings of the HR team as well as emerging talent. I feel valued during meetings and pleased to prepare important packs ahead of these meetings.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I feel I have been fully supported throughout the summer by my line manager. Each team I have been a part of has given me support and guidance. Occassionally felt less support at the beginning of my internship as I knew the least then and easy to forget to explain the basics which is often why my first few tasks too longer.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This varied depending on which projects I had on. I felt very busy at times which kept me engaged and I enjoyed having a substantial workload to keep me motivated however occassionally I wasn't as busy when waiting on responses or if specific people were on holiday I needed to contact but overall I had plenty to get involved with

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was surpirsed by how much responsibility I was given over the summer and as a consequence it made me much more proactive to complete my tasks to a high standard and to the best of my abilities. These tasks included arranging and running filming days, putting together engagement packs and Audit pack and arranging a networking event in London for interns/grads/scholars

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Very much assist me in next steps in my career. As I have completed my degree I feel the internship has given me the tools I need to figure out where my strengths lie and how to carry out certain tasks with efficiency and ease. I feel much more competent to take on another role within a corporate environment and take the next steps in applying to the graduate role.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly and relaxed. Everyone always had a positive attitude which meant there was a good overall work ethic. Regular fundraising activities such as cake sales, guessing the sweets in a jar, small competitions and charity challenges meant the office worked well as an effective and collaborated team.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • In terms of organisation my internship was structured in terms of my personal preference to projects I wanted to be involved with. There was never a set structure which worked well for me as it meant I was able to run with projects at my own pace and as I like to work quickly it meant I could start projects when others finished.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given the chance to work on personal goals and get the best experience I could by shadowing in various areas of the bank. Lloyds was fully committed to my development by giving me a great mentor and having access to specialist colleagues across the bank helped progress my learning further.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very much hoping to recieve a referral onto the grad scheme as a result of completing the internship. Future employment prospects are very appealing due to how much I got on with the team and progress I made myself in the short 10 weeks I was working within GOGEF HR

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes I think all the colleagues in the office enjoyed going out together after work and I was able to attend the cricket with the team in my second week as well as attending various charity nights/events with not only my colleagues but other interns in London as well as networking events. However disappointed there was not a closing event for the interns

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very expensive - to go out for drinks was often over £5 for one drink. Lunch and food was also similar and very expensive - often hard to make lunch everyday so to buy lunch this would normally be over £5 a day and this adds up. Not very young people friendly and no deals

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London is good for nightlife and the area round London Bridge is very sociable however once again as mentioned before the area is very expensive and hence I would have to limit the number of times I could go out in London as a result of how expensive the area/bars/clubs are

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not really I think people tended to socialise more with their own friends within London. I would like to have had more organised social events for interns and scholars as it is difficult to organise events yourself when we only briefly meet people at the intern event on the first day

    2/5
