    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at JLL. The tasks I was given were varied, and I received a lot of guidance where appropriate. The experience enabled me to get a well rounded insight into the company, as I was able to be involved in social events, networking opportunities, and also work outside the office.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt extremely part of JLL just as any permanent employee during my internship. JLL proved it valued its internees by ensuring activities were provided throughout the 4 weeks as well as presentations on varied sectors by employees.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Support and guidance was always available during my internship. Having a 'Supervisor' and a 'Buddy' was a really good way to ensure interns felt comfortable asking for help within the team.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Work experience at JLL has provided an invaluable opportunity to be able to put my studies of property into context. It has been extremely helpful to be able to use my University skills in real life situations. I have also learnt things I didn't know at University, so it will be interesting to see if this knowledge will be utilised in my final year.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was fully structured from day 1. It was useful being presented with a 4 week timetable at the start of the internship, which mixed up the team work slightly. Within the team work was extremely structured also. My supervisor ensured each day I had a list of work to do and would brief me on interesting activities I was able to get involved in.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was relatively relaxed during my internship, which made me feel at ease and comfortable. It was really fun to be 1 of 12 interns, as we would often meet up for lunch or for drinks after work, when we weren't socialising with our teams.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • JLL impressively invested time with the interns in the skills area and also in wider knowledge. During the 4 week internship we were invited to sessions, all with different speakers, and all with a different criteria in which to inform the viewer. These sessions included the monthly briefing given by surveyors in the different fields of the market, a talk on JLL's involvement with the Shard, a briefing on the Alternatives sector, a presentation on Client Plus, and an afternoon interactive session on presentation skills. JLL were always happy to invest time in my progression throughout the internship, the most helpful being feedback and advice when preparing for the end of the month presentation.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight was incredibly helpful for understanding what it would be like to live a day in the life of a graduate surveyor at JLL. Throughout the 4 weeks by supervisor ensured I engaged with a broad range of tasks and events, which ranged from meetings with other surveyors, site visits, and social events at lunchtime or after work.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I now have a much better understanding of JLL's culture and I am able to fully differentiate the company from its competitors, which I wasn't fully able to do before. This is a critical factor when applying for graduate positions as being able to engage with a firm's etiquette is key and is very helpful in the application process.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Incredibly helpful- tasks were differentiated daily and the people I mixed with also varied due to hot desking. This enabled me to meet more people and have coffee to discuss my options with graduates who worked in fields I already have an interest in, as well as graduate roles I don't know much about.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I think it is great that JLL pay their interns a wage, as many internships do not offer this luxury. The money I earned helped to pay for my transport costs.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were always opportunities to meet new people and meet up with other surveyors, who were incredibly good at finding time to talk.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • JLL offered great networking opportunities providing an 'Urban Golf' evening, a drinks and networking event at Canary Wharf, and other opportunities within the teams which were always available for the interns.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes- JLL employee's would always inform me of events and fun activities provided throughout the year in many conversations I had over the 4 weeks.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Absolutely. JLL is an incredibly diverse, friendly company who made me feel very comfortable and at home over my internship which enabled me to fully showcase my skills and personality.
