    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship and got a lot of things from it. Rather than feeling like it was taking up my summer, it was very enjoyable and flew by.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • A very friendly work environment

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was excellent. She showed a keen interest in my placement and made it clear that it was her goal, as much as mine, was for me to suceed. She provided very useful input and kept me busy and motivated, but allowed me to work independantly and expore my own solutions.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The placement was well balance between delivering a project and learning about the company through discussions with people and site visits. There was always lots to do, but enough time to ensure it was not too preasurised.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the freedom to work independantly and included in many of the discussions and client meetings, but feel that I could have taken on even more if the placement went on longer.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed very useful skills in communicating with people aroudn the office, with managers and with clients. I also improved my independant working and presentation skills. Writing a report on my project helped me to consolidate my knowledge and communicate ideas on paper. Through doing my project, my technical knowledge was greatly increased.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office is always buzzing, with lots of communication taking place between departments. People are very friendly and always happy to help you with anything and talk about their job role within the company. The office open and bright office layout and flexible working time greatly helped boost my productivity as I felt unconstrained.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was very well organised. I communicated with my manager by email before arriving and had a working laptop, email and ID card on the first day. All issues were fixed prombty by HR.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company put a lot of time and effort into organising the placement and geared it towards my learning and development over using me just to help meet deliverables. It was really nice to have contact with some of the senior directors and to know how supportinve they are of young people coming into the company.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Working for the company is very appealing. They have an excellent Grad Scheme to bridge between university/internships and a full time roll, in which they continute to invest in you. There is also a lot of choice of where you can work within the company.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It is a large company employing around 10 placement students. This is great for socialising and feeling suported as there are other doing the same thing as you. It is has also been really good for finding accommodation for the placement and haveing people to live and socialise with in the evenings.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was living in Leamington Spa, which is a nice town with a lot of places to go out. As it is occupied by a lot of students from Warwick University, there is lots of housing and places to go that fall with a student budget.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife if pretty good, with lots of bars and several clubs. You would have to be in a city for it to be rivaled and Birmingham is close by to go out at the weekends.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were loads of opportunints to get involved with, it was a case of finding the contacts and the time. I went of severl site visits during my placement, which I found very interesting, and also helped out with the running of a work experience week for secondary school student.
