The Role
I found the internship in M&G Investment an extremely valuable experience. I felt part of the team from day 1 and I have been put in the condition to collaborate since the beginning in day-to-day tasks. There have been also many training sessions to develop awareness of M&G as a business and the industry in general. Finally, M&G is a very open environment and it has been really easy to build up good relationships with colleagues and with other interns/graduates.
To a great extent. I have been given a long-term project to carry out and I contributed to the day-to-day operations. Managers work close to you and there is much interaction with them.
I have been given a good support from my manager, especially in the first weeks of the internship.
My work here at M&G has been a mix of long-term project and day-to-day tasks. It resulted in a balanced workload, since I could manage my time for the long-term projects according to the exigencies of daily work.
The extent of responsibility given to me in day-to-day tasks increased along with the level of expertise in the job. Also, I have been given full responsibility from the very beginning on my long-term project.
On the practical side, I have built knowledge in the field of performance evaluation, including the production of reports and usage of the sector-specific software to assess performance. In general, the variability of day-to-day tasks implied a great extent of adaptation and flexible mindset. Finally, given the particular nature of the job, I have been able to develop a particular attention to details which I am sure it will be helpful in the future.
The Company
M&G Investments has generally a very friendly atmosphere.
Organisation has been well thought by HR team. Not only I felt part of the my working team, but also of the "intern" team as there have been many occasions to meet up with other interns for training sessions and social events.
Very much! M&G Investments has a very long-term view on employees' careers. People tend to work in the company for a very long time, compared to industry average, and M&G invests a lot in your development because of this.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
After you internship, M&G gets back to you with a feedback on your activity in the company and if they are happy with your work, they offer you a position in the graduate scheme.
The Culture
Yes, definitely! There have been plenty of occasions to meet up with fellow interns and we've been able to create a friendly environment since the beginning.
London is definitely expensive, but I could get away with it quite well anyway.
The area around the workplace is definitely a business one. It means that there are plenty of occasions to gather up for a drink after work and have dinner, as many people finish around the same time.
Yes! As mentioned before, HR organised many activities for interns after work, both in the company and outside. We also organised activities among us, independently from the company.
