The Role
The environment at the company was very friendly. Everyone's attitudes towards interns were just as though we were permanent employees, leading to a nice feeling about the company.
Towards the end of the placement, I was leading on some parts of the project I was working on, and therefore colleagues would come to me for help/advice on those parts of the project.
With day-to-day work, I had regular contact with my supervisor and was well supported. Over the course of the whole year however, there could have been more support and guidance regarding the internship itself.
This varied across the year. I had a fair amount of unused time at the beginning of the year, but during the second half of the year, I had a decent amount of work which filled the days without becoming too much.
Depending on the projects across the year, my participation varied, but I was the main resource on a couple of smaller projects and a key resource in a big project in the second half of the year.
My role built up many soft skills such as communication, preparation and meeting leading. These will be very useful going forward.
The Company
The office was extremely friendly, and it was easy to feel appreciated and supported. There were opportunities to play sports outside of work and there was a good after-work culture too.
There were a few times where available work was lacking. This could've been better organised, and approached with a more forward-looking perspective.
I was sent on two external training courses during my time at the company, as well as numerous knowledge gathering opportunities on-site at the company.

Working from home
Atmosphere-wise, I know that the company would be a good fit. There is however potentially a lack of defined career progression and more challenging work.
The Culture
The first ten weeks of the placement were alongside summer interns who started at the same time. The social life amongst us was very good and led to a very enjoyable summer.
London is never going to be a cheap place to socialise in, however pay was higher to compensate for this.
There are plenty of opportunities for a night out in London, but again this comes at a fairly high expense.
There were an abundance of after-work social and sports clubs. In particular, I played a Softball casually with the company and Dodgeball as part of a league.
