    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement here, however some tasks given were a bit mundane like filing etc and other times did not have enough work to keep me busy. I like to be really busy and always have something to do.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I got on really well with everyone and they were so friendly and helpful. After a week or so I really seemed to feel like I had known them all my life.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There were some times when I could have done with help, but there was nobody to ask. Can't complain though as my mentor was great and really helpful. He was really good at explaining things.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I like to be really busy so I could have benifitted from a couple of extra projects to keep me going.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given responsibility to design things, but it is a healthcare industry so they all had to be checked over. This was fine as it meant any mistakes could be rectified.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The drawing skills obtained have been a great help in formula student and will help next year for my fourth year. The understanding of machining processes which we do not get taught in uni is lifelong knowledge and invaluable.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There could be a serious note when a machine broke down etc, people knew how to knuckle down when needed but were also up for a luagh and a bit of fun.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Could have been set more projects and it could have been organised better in the sense that I was not really sure who I was working for at the start.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given all the company standard training.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would very much like to work for Lifescan or a Johnson and Johnson company in the future.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I knew some of the graduates already and they meet up every so often. The departments also had their own nights out too.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Not as cheap as glasgow, but I am from Inverness so could stay at home. Clubs, cinema etc is about the normal.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Again I have lived in Inverness all my life so I don't think it is that amazing compared with Glasgow.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was football teams and the such like.
