About You
I love Goldman Sachs, I can definitely see myself coming back. I interned in the Technology division and everyone I met was so nice and welcoming. Everyone was willing to take their time to get to know me and the others, as well as helping us with our projects.
It was a two week insight, so no real work was done. Nevertheless, the projects we did were real problems and we were told that they sometimes use the interns work.
The internship was very well organised, but having said that it would have been nice to have a little bit more time to use for our project work. However, we were able to express these feelings to HR and they were more than willing to cancel talks/events if possible, There was also plenty of support if needed and it was very easy to set up meetings with our project leaders, so you wont be feeling lost!
I Improved my communication, presentation and networking skills. I am sure that will come in handy!!
The Company
Well structured. All interns knew where they had to be and when, this is very helpful because going into such a professional environment can be quite daunting.
The atmosphere was pretty good, although some interns were a bit overwhelmed by the project work. Therefore, there wasn't many social events organised by the interns. I guess it is only two weeks long so I can't expect too much....
This is a two week internship so there is not much training you can do. However, we were able to participate in workshops that were very informative and interesting. If this were a summer internship I could tell there would be plenty of opportunities to train, but a lot of the training and development will most likely be on the job.
The insight was more of a good taster of what the culture and working environment at Goldman Sachs is like. It was a great experience to intern at such a prestigious bank and all my misconceptions were put to rest. In terms of the role, we had plenty of work shadowing opportunities, which were 2 on 1. This meant that we were able to get a greater insight into what they did.
There were a couple events organised and network societies events, this helped me get a good feel of the culture. The employees at Goldman Sachs work hard but everyone is really down to earth and easy to talk to.
I received a good insight into the subdivisions within Technology and decided that it was not for me. This was good because I was able to see if I could see myself doing any of the roles, which I did not. I also work shadowed five different subdivisions.
Everything Else
I was paid £800.
