About You
It was brilliant. It didn't feel too long and it was a good combination of informative and interactive, with regular breaks to keep our concentration levels high.
One of the most striking comments from Kirstie McGuigan was that "we don't want you to be a number, we want you to be a person" and that was exactly how I felt
Sarah Earl was a very friendly Trainee over lunch and was especially helpful during the Business Game where she did not over-interfere but rather steered us in more constructive directions only when needed. Sarah Harte and the Graduate recruitment team were also a very reassuring port of support and would always take the time to answer any questions raised.
It has increased my confidence in what to expect but has also highlighted the areas I would do well to work on in the time I have before applications. I have a much better understanding of the applications process now and intend to follow any advice I was given.
The Company
Very well, there were opportunities to get to know the other First Years in regular, refreshing breaks, which diffused any tensions. there were informative talks by good speakers, Lunch was not too late in the day and the Business Game was fantastic, not only to get a sense of what the firm was about but also as a way of enjoying the experience even more. The drinks at the end was also a nice touch to wind everyone down afterwards.
Incredibly friendly. Everyone was down to earth and approachable. Conversations were always flowing easily, questions were always answered and we were well fed and refreshed as the day went on. This definitely wasn't a firm that stifled laughter.
They built up a strong picture of what to expect. Through the interactive Business Game we were made to use relevant skills and understand elements of legal procedure and the future assessment day in the applications procedure.
The Trainees were particularly good at this, they would discuss their seats and their experiences. Perhaps a talk on a day-in-the-life-of a Taylor Wessing solicitor might also have been useful but it is probably not so easy to break down.
If the company culture is one of accessibility, approachability and wanting enthusiastic team-players, then the insight was very successful.
Very. I understand general applications processes better, they even gave us some tips on how to work on your CV. On the whole I was persuaded that I would love to work at the firm
Everything Else
I was reimbursed travel expenses which made choosing to register for the event much easier. Lunch and drinks were also provided.
Yes, a Trainee Lunch and a drinks evening which included some partners, trainees and the Graduate Recruitment Team
Brilliant, everyone gave the impression of being more than happy to answer any questions. They made the atmosphere relaxed but informative
Yes, it seems that the employees are all very close due to the smaller intake. Sports, dinners, barbecues, bowling and choir were all mentioned.
Absolutely, it was the best insight into a firm I have had yet
