  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at EC Harris, I was given a variety of jobs to do and the friendly nature of my work colleagues just made the experience that much better.

  • Being a summer placement It would have been easy at times to be forgotten, however I was constantly made to feel part of the team and that my efforts and contributions were really appreciated.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Generally I always had work to be doing, and on the odd occassion I needed something to do I just had to mention it to my line manager and was almost immediately given another job.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Having only just completed my first year of university when doing this placement, I was shocked at how much I learnt in a relatively short time at the company and that without question that combined with what I learn at university will benefit me hugely.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A development day was put on for all summer placements. This involved giving a short presentation to some more senior members of staff, attending a workshop on how to run a meeting, a debate on chosen topics and also a question and asnwer session.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Everyone was very social and regularly on a thursday or Friday evening after work would get together at the office bar.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I did not live there but the cost of socialising seemed quite reasonable in comparison to what I was used to.
