    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great opportunity to experience the daily activities of your job position and to better understand the company's culture and organization. Also, HR department provided all support needed to the new joiners adapt easily to our new role, work environment and even to a new city.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was friendly and willing to help. We didn't feel any difference from being a summer intern or a hired employee. Also, we worked on a real project during the summer which had a direct impact on the company operation, proving the company's trust on our skills.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We were encourage by our supervisor to ask as many questions as needed to our colleagues, even when they were busy. Also, our supervisors were always available to catch up and discuss any issues we had.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy. Besides the actual summer project, we had many other activities such as: courses, presentations, group projects, networking events, talks and others. Therefore, we were able to fully enjoy our internship time and to know a lot of people. The drawback was that sometimes was hard to conciliate this extra activities with our summer project, but I strongly believe it was a necessary and important challenge to overcome, proving that we have the time and project management skills required to the job.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We worked on a real project during the summer which had a direct impact on the company operation. So we were responsible to complete this task on time and with high quality standards.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The internship was a great opportunity to practice public speaking, since we had weekly team meeting where we had to present our progress. Also, we had two group projects where we made a presentation to a bigger audience including all interns and some seniors employees. I'm confident my ability to talk in public was improved and that it will be essential throughout my career.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very focused most of the time, but somewhat relaxed. Only in a few moments team was under pressure to finish some task as soon as possible.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very organised. HR offered all supported needed, replying quickly our emails and providing detailed information about the whole program since the beginning.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Considering the short duration of our internship, the company provided several training about personal (public speaking, personal brand) and technical skills (the ones you would need throughout the program).

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Your career growth seemed to relied on only your performance, exactly what I was looking for. And since there are not as many hierarchical levels as in another banks, makes easier to achieve higher positions in a relatively short period of time.

  • Yes, I have made very good friends from this internship.

  • Very expensive, but expected.
