The Role
Overall had a really beneficial placement, also got along really well with everyone i was working with and felt a valuable team member.
Everyone i was working with made me feel part of the team, work i carried out was useful for my colleagues
Was allocated a line manager from the start but rarely had reviews or check ups of how i was doing. Didn't really follow a training programme, seemed more like learning on the job.
Every day was different and some days were busier than others, some days it seems you had to go looking for work to do, but on other days it can be non stop.
Obviously only being a placement student not a lot of responsibility was given at the start, the first few months were more about learning the trade and day to day operations on a construction site. However, as the placement went on i was given more responsibility
The placement year was far more beneficial than i thought it was going to be. Went on several training days and seminars on behalf of Morgan Sindall. Also working in pre construction and on site improved my understanding of knowledge of the industry.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office is good but found the atmosphere a lot better on site as it was busier and a lot more was happening.
Was set up well, but wasn't probably implemented for my placement. Had the opportunity to work in pre construction and and site which was beneficial
Completed a first aid course which made me a first aider on site. Also went on several internal training days. However feel it would of been beneficial to complete more course that were relevant to our future roles on site

Future employment prospects within the organisation looks good. Two year graduate training programme looks useful to help continue my knowledge of the industry.
The Culture
Didn't get the chance to socialise with other students which would of been good and useful to see what they were doing during their placement. Only one social event was organised, however it was a great day out.
I was living at home so didn't have to worry about accommodation and other expenses. The company also covered mileage to and from site.
Was living at home. Had some great nights in partying with the parents
There is opportunity but it's up to yourself whether you get involved in them by asking your line manager.
