    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was given an extremely valuable in site in to the way in which a major contractor runs one of its sites on a day to day basis and I found this very enjoyable. I never felt under any pressure and it was always reiterated I was there to learn, not to work.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt I was included in all relevant works for the position I was in. I feel all my colleagues valued me and were more than keen to answer any questions and educate me on the industry as a whole.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The management and supervisors were great. Always on hand to guide me and explain things to me and every opportunity even though they were extremely busy.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given enough responsibilities and tasks to keep me busy throughout the day.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As the placement progressed I was given more and more responsibility in line with skills and ability developing. I mentioned before I was never given more than I could handle but I was still tested. There was also always someone on hand if I needed any help or questions answered.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think what I learned during my placement will stand me in extremely good stead as I apply for graduate jobs and go down whatever career path. The training will also help me in a number of my final year classes.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was a very friendly and enjoyable environment to work in and be part of.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I shared an office with one of the site managers and the project managers office was across the hall so I was never short of supervision or advice. I was in regular contact with head office with them asking how my placement was going.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They invested a lot time and money in me and for that I am very grateful. There was no need for them to take me as a placement as there is no guarantee I will return to them when I graduate.
