About You
It was more than what I expected of the insight - it was challenging all the time. However, for a technology insight week, I would say it allowed us a lot of creativity, which was appreciated a lot by the professionals working at GOldman Sachs.
It felt like every little thing I did was seen and taken into account when considering my future progress within the firm. I did feel appreciated as an asset. My advisors for my projects tried to challenge me even more when they saw I came up with new ideas, and this was very motivating for me.
I was getting guidance as regularly as possible. I had compulsory meetings with people in the beginning, however, our topics of conversation turned out to be extremely interesting for me so I started asking my advisors for more meeting. No one ever refused one and they were actually happy that I asked them for support.
Most of all, the experience made me more confident about my skills and knowledge. I learned a lot, although some things I can't put into practice while at uni, or at least I have not yet. AS a whole, it was all very useful and I gained experience helpful both in my future career and personal life as well.
The Company
The programme was extremely tight - everything was very well organized. It required of me to be extremely punctual, which I am used to, so id did not seem to me as intense as it seemed to others (or as people having already been there had told me). I like thigs well organized so the structure was as good for me as I would want it.
It was all very professional. I was actually a bit surprized that my opinion was pretty much put equal to a professional's. It made me feel very valued and grown up. Friendly atmosphere when not as formal, at times however it was quite competitive - it was an actual insight of what professional life is like, in my opinion.
They offered me a summer internship which I take as a good sign - that I did well enough in the spring programme and that they would like to invest more in me, as they see some potential.
Big extent. We were treated as if we were already full time employees there. That was the beauty of the whole experience - providing an actual insight, an not just calling it that.
Everyone was talking about the culture in the first day. However, after spending two weeks there, I could feel the culture around me. It was a helpful experience to see that people actually mean what they say (and they said a lot of good thinsg!)
Extremely valueble, as for me, a cvareer in a bank was something I would have never considered before. After two weeks in Goldman Sachs, I complettely changed my ideas of it. Now this is something I could freely see myself doing in the future.
Everything Else
A lot! Goldman Sachs pays a lot of attention to networking and building new relations between employees.
Very relaxed and nice. People were happy to se eyou show interest in what they were doing. In the same time, I was never nervous that I could say something wrong, as this was not an exam, it was informal events where you just share opinions and plans. Also an opportunity to show off your skills.
Yes, both through sessions and through chats with employees.
Definitely.
