The Role
I felt the internship scheme within the Operations division was a profitable experience, giving interns the opportunity to explore the inner workings of the bank, whilst having real responsibility
I think everyone felt valued, as the colleagues at Goldman were very willing to give you their time, and to put effort in to invest in you as an intern.
There were regular formal meetings, as well as informal meetings whenever you chose (my manager and I arranged weekly catch ups as it worked for us), and there was the opportunity to always speak to HCM for some external support.
A little variable between interns it seemed, but generally kept busy without being overworked. A strong balance.
Again variable between roles, but for my experience my projects external to my team gave me a lot of responsibility, culminating in our group pitching our project to 30 MDs.
Having had the exposure this summer, I am now more confident in communicating ideas and dealing with formal situations.
The Company
Hard working yet everyone always would have time to chat, and make the effort to really get to know you as an individual. I felt the team really invested in each other.
Highly. Very clear when meetings / feedback sessions / project deadlines were.
This aspect was probably the best feature of the internship. I was very pleased with the amount of time the company and individuals had to invest in their interns. You really were treated like a full time colleague.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
Very appealing. The permanent role still offers much training and skills practice that the internship did, and I think this was its best feature.
The Culture
Strong intern community, organised lots of events, and opportunities for team events too, as well as a charity-supporting day out and events such as a inter-firm run and inter-division basketball competition.
Expensive.
Good bars, and situated in the City, lots of places to go out.
