    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at JLL. JLL was my first choice for a summer placement and I was not disappointed. The work was interesting, diverse and challenging, I was taught new skills and improved upon existing ones. I was also able to participate in sport and social occasions. Overall it was a great experience which I feel has put my in good stead for upcoming graduate schemes.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone at JLL were brilliant. They were friendly, provided constructive and positive feedback, they gave me confidence as well as making me feel at home from day one.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support was always provided when needed. When it was required, my supervisor would always be on hand to provide me with the necessary support and guidance to get the task done. All tasks felt achievable, thanks to my colleagues and supervisor.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Day to day I was quite busy, busy enough to forget when lunch was! My colleagues were great though, they kept providing me with relevant work which I welcomed and continually learnt from. So not only was I busy, I was busy doing work which I knew was going to be used, giving it purpose and relevance.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Quite a lot. I was sent out on several site visits on my own, carrying out work which I knew was going to be relied upon by my team. I created research reports which were going to be used in client meetings, I was also provided with a large project which I carried out single handedly. I embrace responsibility and JLL provided me with enough to see me through my internship.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • They are quite fundamental skills and they will play an important role in my final year at University. My methods of research have improved, the way I present my documents and findings are now more professional. Furthermore my presentation and communication skills have improved which is key in this profession.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was very energetic and sociable, everyone knew one another so it was a great environment to work in.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was a solid structure, work had already been prepared for me to crack on with when I arrived on my first day. There were several days where I would travel to the Canary Wharf office to carry out skill building exercises, which included myself and a team presenting in front of JLL employees.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned earlier, there were several skills days where I undertook training, these resulted in the development of my current skills but also the introduction of new ones which were demonstrated in practise. My supervisor and colleagues were also very helpful and provided me with help when needed.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I was extremely happy with my time at JLL, which has reassured me it is an excellent company with a lot to offer its employees. These reasons are why I am applying for the graduate scheme.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Of course, we all got on with each other and JLL organised several events which included a ping pong night to help us all get to know one another.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was commuting from North London, so the tube fair and lunch were my only expense, but even that was reasonable, no different from where I live. Socially, again I thought the prices were quite reasonable.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Socially the area was very lively, due to the great location there was a choice of good pubs, restaurants and clubs which were all within a close walking distance.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes. As mentioned earlier there were activities orchestrated by JLL for all the students, which included events with employees on their current grad scheme. There was an annual event for each department in JLL which all the students were invited to, there were also several sporting activities which I participated in.
