The Role
I really enjoyed my time on placement, I had a good combination of technical work and being part of a team as well as working on an individual project. It was a really good placement year to understand how the business works from the bottom all the way up to director level. It gave me perspective on the day to day running's of the business but also the detailed planning for the future.
I felt very valued my colleagues, I felt a valued member of the team. It is a two way street though and the more effort I put into the job, into my colleagues, into learning the technical skills to become an effective part of the team, the more they were willing to help me, to improve me both as an employee and an individual. I was also recognised for my hard work and I am now working part-time as part of the team.
The talent team, who recruit the graduates were very very supportive and dealt with any issues/queries I had once joining but then throughout the year also. My immediate manager provided some supervision but was very happy for me to get on with the job myself.
Depended on whether I was working in the team or on my project, I was very busy whilst working on my project two days a week for the first few months, I had to present to heads of departments etc, so this required a lot of preparation. When working as part of the team, as we dealt with real-time requests, some days could be extremely busy, some days were quiet but still busy to be always doing something.
As part of the deployment team, I was another analyst providing support across multiple lines of business, so I was very much support staff. However I had to make key decisions when dealing with requests that effected performance. My project work was for the whole department and I was given lots of responsibility.
Massively. The skills I developed are have improved me both as an individual and an employee. The work-ethic and discipline of performing and holding down a full-time job I have carried into my studies and is paying off.
The Company
Friendly, Fun. Always looking to improve.
Very. Good induction session and hand-over session to the new interns. Lots of fun.
I went of psychometric tests to improve how we work in the workplace and also a stakeholder management course which was lots of fun.

I am currently working part-time for the team I was in whilst on placement and I am also looking to secure a position on the finance graduate scheme that begins in September 2015
The Culture
Due to the spread locations, We didn't see each other too often, however the social occasions when we did were lots of fun!
Fortunately I was located in Manchester, where I study, so to get to work it was only a 10 minute train ride from Fallowfield (student locations in south Manchester), so my cost of living stayed the same as my university years.
Manchester has a very good nightlife.
Not many.
