The Role
An incredibly well organised internship. I was able to experience two completely different divisions within investment banking which was useful and insightful.
I felt like I really contributed to the team and that my input was valuable even though I was merely a summer analyst.
The buddy and mentor system meant that you had a lot of support from people in various levels of seniority. Everyone was very approachable and supportive.
Being in this type of industry means that you will be very busy and sometimes under a lot of pressure. I feel that I was still able to maintain somewhat of a balance though.
I was given a fair amount of responsibility and as I showed my capabilities I was given more, which was very exciting.
The learning curve is very steep so you learn a lot in a short space of time that is transferable to a lot of fields.
The Company
Everyone is very friendly and approachable. There were weekly networking drinks which were a great way to get to know more people.
Everything was very well prepared. We had plenty of networking events and talks with various people in the firm so that we were able to understand the company as a whole.
There was a huge emphasis on personal training and development so there were many sessions on this as well as mid and end term self reviews.
