The Role
This placement year was great! It was such a varied placement which covered 4 different attachments across various HR functions in the business.
I was made to feel very comfortable by all of my colleagues that I worked with within the business and felt very valued throughout. It was great to be given accountability right from the start.
I was constantly given guidance and support throughout my placement and had regular reviews along the way.
This varied accross the various attachments, within some store based attachments I was busy and other regional attachments required me to travel a lot.
From the beginning I was given accountability in my role and throughout I was responsible for certain things however I was never actually responsible for any other employees.
The skills and things that I have learnt throughout this year will definitely be very beneficial in my university degree and also will be transferrable into any other jobs I may have in the future.
The Company
I had so much fun in every attachment!
The placement year was well organised in the sense that there was always somewhere for us to go to next, however there could have been a more balanced structure.
I attended lots of workshops which covered training for various skills and technical competencies.

Working from home
I am continuing to work with M&S and hope to return on their graduate scheme once my degree is complete.
The Culture
I have made some friends for life both amongst fellow BPPs and amongst M&S colleagues accross the business.
I lived at home and it is in an area I know well so cost was not of any concern to me.
The nightlife in Newcastle is excellent.
There were definitely a few opportunities to get involved in activities outside of the working day including socialising, travelling with fellow colleagues etc.
