The Role
It was an amazing experience! I learnt a lot and worked with some really great people.
My team was great and I got along with them quite well. Everyone was really welcoming and they were always willing to help. I definitely felt that they had my best interests in mind and wanted to see me do well.
I officially had one direct manager, who oversaw my work and development but I also had a few other people who acted as managers depending on the project or problem and who I could go to at any time for further support.
The first few weeks weren't very busy with regards to workload, but there were many other events going on at the time so it was not too bad. Over the rest of the year, it was more balanced, but there were times when things got very busy.
From the beginning, I was essentially responsible for my own projects but still had a lot of guidance and supervision. As the year went on, more of the responsibility fell on me to make sure things were being done.
I have learnt so much and have improved on many skills that will definitely help me going into my final year and for the rest of my life and career.
The Company
The general atmosphere was good. It could be quiet sometimes when everyone was concentrating and working hard to finish their work, but everyone got along well so there was always conversations happening and banter going around... and lots of cake.
The placement is very well organised, and that is evident even from the application process. There were many great events, talks, projects and training sessions organised for us over the course of the year.
There are training sessions at the beginning of the placement which are compulsory, and then many optional ones you can sign up for over the course of the year. Some of these were specific to placements or graduates, and some were open to everyone in the technology or in the firm.

I would love to go back after I graduate.
The Culture
The social scene was good. It was very busy over the summer when the summer interns were around. This calmed down after they left but we'd still go for drinks or something every few weeks, and we also had lunch together a lot. There were people I got closer to as the year went on, and we did things together often. There was also trip to Thorpe Park with the other placements and some interns also went on a ski trip.
I lived at home and commuted to London so can't really comment on this, but it is London so more expensive than other cities.
Worked in Central London so there was a lot of choice.
There are quite a few networks and sports clubs that one can get involved in.
