  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was my first experience working within an investment bank and it was an excellent learning experience.

  • Workers were very open and welcoming. You were able to approach people at their desks and ask for help with presentations.

  • We had a Spring Champion and a designated HR employee to act as points of contact throughout. We received feedback and had drop-in sessions.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Realised the importance of networking effectively and developing confidence. Also pushed myself more with time management especially when working within a team.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • We were given a timetable that outlined the whole two weeks. Sometimes events were rearranged for different times which was confusing, but we were kept updated via email.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Good fun - the other interns were easy to get along with and the GS employees made us feel very welcome

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lots of feedback and drop-in sessions for us to voice any worries and hear what we had been doing well/needed to improve on.

  • We were given desks like other employees, but did not do any GS work. We were given independent presentation projects.

  • We were exposed to a wide range of GS employees including Managing Directors.

  • They also provided accommodation for those living outside the M25.


  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Several networking opportunities were arranged and you were able to organise meetings with people independently through email if you had questions or topics for discussion.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • We had several networking opportunities with different affinity networks which were very insightful. The best session was with the other Spring Interns on the last day with table football, Giant Jenga, candyfloss & ice cream machines, a pick and mix station, drinks and more.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Affinity networks for different groups of people and the CTW program.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definitely, and not just from a Maths/Economics background. Diversity is very important
