  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Excellent exposure to a braod range of engineering disciplines

  • Felt like a fully integrated member of the team, real work completed - not sat behind a computer each day!

  • Thrown in at the deep end but plenty of engineers to give support where required.

  • Never bored, often too busy with people in demand of my time.

  • Responsible for project with over £200k annual savings.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Wide variety of topics covered, felt had an advantage when returned to university for final years.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a diverse range of personalities within the department, but everyone was very friendly and approachable. There was a great student/graduate atmosphere.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The programme is centrally managed with specific line management. regular review meetings were held.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Completed over 5 train courses, including a 4 day IOSH Managing Safely residential course and 2 day Confined Spaces training course.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Offered a position on their International Graduate Scheme upon completion of my degree based in China, Africa and Spain.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Lots of fellow students and graduates around, certainly not stuck for things to do in the evenings and weekends.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Accomodation was fairly cheap if sharing a house, I paid £250 per month leaving plenty over for socialising.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Peterborough is what you make of it. Don't expect nights out every night of the week but Thurs, Fri and Sat is certainly worth a visit into town.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A few social clubs to attend, occasioanl barbeques and evenings out.
