    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The opportunities I was given were great, I was set a task and left to do it under my own initiative. However as with many small teams we all had to muck in together and help each other out which sometimes meant doing the boring jobs that no one else wanted.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was made to feel like part of the team instantly, and always felt that my input was valuable.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The management was often busy, or out of the office, but there was always someone on hand to help out if I needed it.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days were non-stop but some days were boring, but again that is often the nature of a small organisation.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was pretty much given a task and a deadline and left to work on it myself, with input from the team when I asked for it - I loved that aspect of it!

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The job has really awakened my interest in communications and PR rather than just marketing a product. I have also found that being able to draw on my experiences has been a real help so far in my final year.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It would change from day-to-day depending on who was in the office, but in general there was a great team ethic and a really nice atmosphere

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Provisions were put in place for my first week, but there were problems with my start date. These problems were rectified for my replacement when my placement ended.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The experience I gained far outweighed what I could have gained from training courses.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would recommend it as a placement, but for a full time job I think a larger company would be a better starting point.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was only a small organisation and I was the only placement student.

    0/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home, but the cost of living in the area was covered by my salary, I even have money to spare for my final year.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife is good for a town in the Westcountry, but if city life is more your scence its probably not the place for you.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Again not bad for the Westcountry, plenty to do if you just get out there and look around (and have your own transport)

    3/5
