The Role
The opportunities I was given were great, I was set a task and left to do it under my own initiative. However as with many small teams we all had to muck in together and help each other out which sometimes meant doing the boring jobs that no one else wanted.
I was made to feel like part of the team instantly, and always felt that my input was valuable.
The management was often busy, or out of the office, but there was always someone on hand to help out if I needed it.
Some days were non-stop but some days were boring, but again that is often the nature of a small organisation.
I was pretty much given a task and a deadline and left to work on it myself, with input from the team when I asked for it - I loved that aspect of it!
The job has really awakened my interest in communications and PR rather than just marketing a product. I have also found that being able to draw on my experiences has been a real help so far in my final year.
The Company
It would change from day-to-day depending on who was in the office, but in general there was a great team ethic and a really nice atmosphere
Provisions were put in place for my first week, but there were problems with my start date. These problems were rectified for my replacement when my placement ended.
The experience I gained far outweighed what I could have gained from training courses.
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
I would recommend it as a placement, but for a full time job I think a larger company would be a better starting point.
The Culture
It was only a small organisation and I was the only placement student.
I lived at home, but the cost of living in the area was covered by my salary, I even have money to spare for my final year.
Nightlife is good for a town in the Westcountry, but if city life is more your scence its probably not the place for you.
Again not bad for the Westcountry, plenty to do if you just get out there and look around (and have your own transport)
