    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a great experience and met some amazing people (both other interns and employees at the firm). You are given real responsibility and I was made to feel like a member of my team from Day 1. The exposure, insights and training you receive are invaluable.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues asked for my opinion on certain things and would treat me as a real team member. I was responsible for running particular team meetings and felt like there was scope for me to add value to the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was always there to help me if I needed it and were more than approachable. I never felt like I couldn't speak to my manager. You are also given a buddy and a mentor who are both great at providing you help in being successful on the internship. I never felt that any question I had was too silly to ask.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At the beginning you aren't as busy when you are settling in. However, as you begin to grasp your daily work load and begin to take on more responsibility you can be quite busy but that has its benefits as I never felt that a day dragged and they always went by very quickly. Around project deadlines you can work longer hours but that is just a collective desire to produce great work and meet deadlines. I still felt able to meet friends/fellow interns for dinner/drinks on some nights after work.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I truly felt like a team member and was given responsibility to sent out daily reports. I had the ability to add value to my team by improving/implementing new processes.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills you learn on this internship are invaluable. Teamwork, communication skills, being proactive, presentation skills, and confidence are all things that I feel I developed throughout the internship.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone is willing to help you or sit with you to explain their role and their time at the firm. I never felt that someone didn't have the time to meet me. We had team lunches, larger social events and I always felt that it was a friendly atmosphere.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • This is a very well organised internship. We had a lot of sessions together during the first few weeks as an internship class and fewer later on that were more focussed on developing life-long skills. HCM were very well accessible and I always felt that I could approach them with any question.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Everyone is willing to talk to you about their role at the firm and this is immensely helpful in building a larger picture of the firm. We had a lot of training sessions and could access even more if we wanted to learn about other areas. It felt like the firm invested heavily in its interns and you really feel like you are treated as an individual.
