    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship and I have to say it was an invaluable experience.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were all very helpful and willing to meet and explain the business or anything that you wanted to know more about.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager gave me ample support throughout the internship as did my assigned buddy and mentor. Buddies & mentor's gave support for areas that may not of been directly work related whereas my manager would help with the work related aspects.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I felt like I was adequately busy and stretched throughout my internship. Any points where there was not enough work I would suggest this to management and they quickly responded with new & interesting projects to work on.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given plenty of responsibility throughout my internship. This was not from my assigned project but rather from side projects that I had asked to be a part of. You will find that there is plenty of responsibility to be found by just asking. Whereas I found my main project did not carry that much responsibility, other interns found theirs did so this will vary!

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel that I have learnt many new skills from my internship. Having spent a whole summer coding in financial services, I have learnt how to do proper testing, how to structure code properly and how to spot 'bad code smells'. The internship also allowed me to improve my interpersonal skills a great deal.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was neither dull nor 'fun never stopped'. I would describe it as a normal office atmosphere where people work and talk when they need to talk.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall, the internship was very organised with plenty of events to take part in and learn from. A few minor ( and specific ) areas were less organised but this was not by any means a problem. I was very impressed with the amount of extra events on offer and the amount of support provided for each and every intern throughout.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company was very heavily invested in each and every intern. With plenty of events on offer to develop interns in different areas, and with every being so willing to help out, I felt like they valued the interns very much. We were given ample opportunity to hear from very senior speakers within the firm and to ask them questions to learn more.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I believe if you intern here there is a good chance you will get a job with them provided you perform well and react to feedback that is given to you.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The group of interns and placement students were very sociable and we were always in contact on the weekends to arrange things to do.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • We were working in London - so you can expect London prices for living/socialising.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The night-life in London is fantastic and by far the best in the UK.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We had the opportunity to work with a charity outside of work which was a very rewarding experience. Other than socialising outside of work, I did not get involved in any activities.

    3/5
