    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the project I was working on and got along well with everybody I met, senior staff and interns alike.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • At all times the importance of the work we were doing was clear, getting direct feedback from both management and our client on the trade floor.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The help from our manager was incredibly useful though fitting into such a busy time table can be a challenge in itself.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was always work available to do however the work load was cyclical as we approach and passed a deadline.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was in charge of a team of four including myself and were left to manage ourselves to the most part with occasional guidance.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I picked up were directly relevant this internship being a direct extension of my current MSc. I cannot fault the internship at all on this front everything being 100% relevant to my course and future aims.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There were always things going on inside the office and usually had people working 24/7.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Each week there was usually at least one event organised for the interns ranging from networking events through to speeches from senior speakers. Lots of effort was put into organising these events each one being a success.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We went through at least four internal training schemes during our internship and were given the offer to take advantage of any resources we needed during our time with J.P. Morgan.

  • I cant really rate this as we find out the answer to this next week!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All the interns socialised as much as possible with a whats-app group being the favoured means of organisation.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Being central London it is not usually a cheap night out however is almost always worth it.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • You cant beat central London for nightlife, there’s something for everyone within easy tube access!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a number of events being run by J.P Morgan or members of their staff that were open to all however if you mean are there activities in central London, definitely.
