    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The working hours are slightly longer than the standard 9-5 office hours which took a bit of getting used to although a lot of support was on hand as well as excellent training prior and during my placement.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team culture at B&C is brilliant in terms of helping you feel welcome and being a valued member especially at really busy times when you can offer support which other teams without a placement student do not have.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I always felt like my manager was on hand to assit with any query or problem i had, on the other hand i feel the development oppotunity's througout the year were limited and therefore little guidance was needed towards the back end of my year.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I personally feel i could often have dealt with much more complex scenario's than what i was given. Due to this i could happily keep myself busy but sometimes felt bored when carrying out general administrative tasks.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In my forth month of my placement i was allowed to 'own' and manage 50 candidates which meant taking on the responsibility of monitoring when they next need a call and putting them forward for roles that come forward.

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Without a doubt i think any placement undertaken will be beneficial towards your studies in the final year. This is because it provides the grounding for putting theory to practice and also may help give understanding to why a degree is essential in many organisations today. In addition to this, you often have theory to use in a disserntation as well as being a step ahead students who chose not to do a placement in employers eyes! Disregarding all of this, it certainly helps you get into a routine of getting out of bed before the afternoon to do coursework!

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I often feel this can be heavily influenced by the size of the office you are based in.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My first week on my placement was spent in the head office in London doing 9-5 training which was brilliant and really structured towards helping you learn as much as possible in the week with different activities. Once on desk in the office i felt more thought could have been put into what my job role would entail rather than it being developed over the first couple of months. This may have been because the Leeds office had never had a placement student before and therefore the scenario may have been very different in other offices.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The initial Flying start course was brilliant and i was able to stay in a hotel close to the office fully expensed by the organisation. The general office culture meant i was more than happy to approach someone with a query as i felt they were more than happy to help me

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Healthcare/Dental

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definetly consider other oppotunities before returning to B&C.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The only other Placement students apart from me were based in the London office.

    1/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • i would defintely recommend living in a student city. Brilliant travel links if not a little expensive as well as cheap drinks and food in the local pubs near where i lived.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Plenty of places to go on a night out for a range of preferences as well as plenty of things to do and see at the weekend. I would definetly recommend choosing a work placement based in a student city.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Zilch

    1/5
