The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Imperial, words cannot describe how much I enjoyed it.
I really did feel that I was part of a big family, my bosses looked after me very well and everyone I worked with are just so lovely.
I had plenty support and guidance from my managers, I had also been given a lot of responsibility too.
I always had something to do everyday. When I was in charge of the project, I was busy everyday, but when the project finished, it wasn't so busy.
I was the project manager for 4 months and I really felt the responsibility I was given.
Definitely improved a lot of skills, from technical point of view to skills for working in a professional level.
The Company
Very lively and energetic.
For my first 6 month, I had a lot of training on Excel and my skill has improved tremendously by using it daily. I did feel that I hadn't had many responsibilities, I think this is due to the fact that we have a lot of analysts in our team so it was difficult to divide the job evenly. Never the less I still enjoyed it very much because there were a lot of going on being an analyst, I am always busy and asking for jobs and my colleagues were always happy to help.
Imperial spent £400 on an external Excel course for me just a month before I was due to start my placement. I also had a lot of training on the new Office 2010

HR has informed me that if I apply for the graduate job, they would consider me prior to other candidate and if I unfortunately did not pass the process, Imperial Tobacco UK will happily take me in if there is a vacancy in the firm.
The Culture
We had a social committee in our company and there were always a lot going on after work. e.g. laser quest, go karting, treasure hunt, Christmas party and etc.
I lived in a quiet village in Bristol, I was happy about my rent because all the bills were included and I also had a cleaner. In terms of socialising, Bristol was also quite good and not too expensive for me, so I always had a good time when I was out with colleagues.
Bristol is renowned for its brilliant nightlife. There is a street called Park Street which is where everyone goes on a Friday or Saturday night.
Yes, there were many opportunities to get involved.
