    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I did this internship as a gap year during my Master Degree. It was a good decision with a look back. Verizon brought me a real and longtime experience in addition to professionalism, knowledge of Telecommunications and work skills in general.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were really nice with me during all the year. I appreciated a lot my team and also my neighbors in the open space. It was also a good experience to work on different projects with different peoples. You have to deal with it and take the best of everybody.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I particularly appreciated my manager during this experience. He knew how to driving me during all my missions and always tried to gives me interesting works. He was strong and professional in certain circumstances but also tolerant and comprehensive in other ones. He absorbed really well the stress of the team during challenging times and it was very instructive to watching that with a external point of view.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It was quit hard at the beginning because I had to assimilate all the solutions and software used every day. Also I was in a Sales Team so it was an every month’s competition. I was quite busy some time but I know it will be like that after graduate and I will have to do my proof during my daily work so I am happy I experienced this situation in Verizon. It was a kind of overview.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Before doing my internship, I thought it will be hard to get some responsibility in a global company because of the hierarchy and all the processes. But finally they gave me the opportunity to manage some of it.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Thanks to this experience, I finally had in my hand a whole processes that I didn't have in my older sales internships. It was a good training because I could put in practice all the theories I learned at school.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very professional. I was proud to come every day and I also loved to work in La Defense. It is pushing you out of your school atmosphere and you feel like you are in the middle of all the big decisions of Paris companies

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It went well with my summer holidays. It was maybe a little bit long but I can also understand there is lot of processes to validate, and particularly to be hired in a foreign company.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Management missions and back up of my sales team.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It looks quite hard to enter as a junior in the French office. Lot of hired peoples has MBAs and/or some years of experience in others Telecoms companies. However, it seems that there are some opportunities abroad.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were others interns in Sales and Marketing. I will keep in touch with lot of them!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The area was definitely a work one! With lot of restaurants, a big mall, some touristic monuments etc. The cost of living is quite expensive, but it is a point which is hard to avoid in Paris.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It is really close to the center of Paris and well disserved. Nightlife is pretty cool there.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I had the luck for example to do a golf event organized by the company. It was a good memory and I could appreciate some colleagues outside of working life. Also, there is a group of peoples who do indoor football and running every Friday during the mid-time and you are always welcome to come with them!
