The Role
The placement in Verizon was quite an experience because it was the first time I was exposed in a corporate environment. I enjoyed it in a sense that everything was new to me, thus I had to constantly adjust to the environment and people. The location was also perfect since Verizon France is located in the heart of the main business district of France.
Majority of my colleagues were nice and accommodating. I was easily able to integrate professionally because everyone was very business-oriented. There are a few individuals, however, who were not as helpful or welcoming.
My manager was very good at what he does, thus it was a good experience for me to learn from. They were also always available when needed, and they treated me as if I was a regular employee.
As a marketing intern, my daily work load included events management and support, and database software management. I think the work load was adequate for an intern to adjust accordingly.
I think I was given responsibility that is appropriate for an intern. Of course, there are some work that have bigger risk than others, and I am thankful that my manager was able to trust me with these responsibilities.
The skills I learned in Verizon are very useful both personally and professionally. Personally I learned to be more dynamic and organized. Professionally, I learned about how to deal with different types of people. Additionally, there are technical skills that I have also learned from the placement.
The Company
The atmosphere is very professional however, people were accommodating and easy to talk to. Often I would be invited for a coffee of for lunch by colleagues.
The process took longer than expected but that should be understandable since I came from another country. The signing of the contract itself was fast, however, the from the time I sent my application, the waiting time for a response took months.
I received training from the moment I entered Verizon's offices. Supplementary online training was also given every two weeks with a wide variety of topics to choose from. Through Verizon's vzlearn system, we can choose the topics we are interested in and train online.

Availability of a job I would want is an important factor. However, as of the moment, I have yet to be inclined to join the company fumm-time.
The Culture
Yes, my co-interns made my stay enjoyable since they were also in a similar situation. They were also quite helpful when needed.
Living in Paris is very expensive, thankfully I was paid well enough to live comfortably. However, I had to use personal money to finance extra curricular activities.
The night scence in the business district where I work is essentially non-existent. However, there are loads of good places to go a few minutes away in the heart of Paris.
Yes, Paris is the perfect location if you want to expose yourself the the French culture and way of life. I actively engaged in a gym club and a local pool where I was able to get enough excercise. Quite expenisive but it was worth it!
