    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I liked the insight. It allowed me to have a broader idea of investment banking. However, I missed some exams and honestly I don't know if it was worth it.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I didn't feel much valued because I am a shy person and I don't like to flatter people around just to be noticed, as many other interns did. This is why I found it hard to make friends with people from the recruiting team and get me noticed.

    2/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received much guidance during the insight. We had a carefully planned schedule and I always knew where I had to be at a certain time. Also during our case studies we received the help from analysts of the financing group and the m&a team, who were very kind and willing to help us.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training sessions we had on the second week will surely come useful during my studies at universities. In addition to that, I have understood how to "network" properly, a skill that I didn't have before but that is extremely useful in this industry.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was well structured. The first week consisted in some presentations about the company and networking events, while the second week was about training and more hands-on activities. I can see the logic behind this, but as a suggestion I would recommend the training to be scheduled for the first week and to make it last more days, while I'd rather cut some interesting but maybe superfluous presentations on mobility programs etc.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I feel there was a lot of competition among us interns because everybody wanted to be spotted for the summer internship. In our group case studies some people weren't keen to help me.

    3/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think the company did a good job to train me and the rest of us interns because it provided us with a book and some theroical training which I really appreciated.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I think we could grasp some of the atmosphere of the working environment in GS. However, we didn't get the chance to shadow an analyst or to go on the floors, so I personally don't know 100% what it is like to be an investment banker, and especially the analysts always told us that they don't have a typical day, so they never really answered our questions about their daily job.

    3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • There were a lot of presentations on the topic: at the end of the 1st week I had already understood the company culture.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I decided that I am going to study finance as my major and I will surely pursue a career in Investment Banking. This insight weeks helped me to make up my mind about it.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We were paid but unfortunately the living standards in London are high (travelling by tube and eating is expensive) so I spent almost half of my salary on it.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty of opportunities and at the end of the 2 weeks, I was even a little bit fed up with these networking events.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • At the end of the 2 weeks, the networking events were a little bit boring because we had already asked everything we wanted to know the days before, so there wasn't much to talk about with the analysts.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • yes, GS has 10 000 women and 10 000 businesses and a day off work for every employee in which to do charity work.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, if this doesn't mean having to give up exams. If I won't get an offer or a fast track, it would have been quite useless to come but obviously this is mainly my fault, although not entirely.
