  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the opportunity thoroughly as it gave me a real insight into the divisions within the investment bank and also helped me to pick up a number of soft skills along the way which will greatly aid my career.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was approached on numerous occasions by staff whom were so welcoming and genuinely showed an interest in what I was doing and why I had chosen Bank of America. It was great to hear honest opinions from insightful individuals.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Throughout the insight we took part in various discussions and team exercises and at the end of the exercises we had a debriefing session. I found these really invaluable as it helped me to identify areas which I was strong and those where I needed to work on.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I particularly found the aspect dedicated to learning more about the divisions and the ample opportunity for work shadowing to be really beneficial as it has prepared me for what to expect in terms of working in the banking industry.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The 5 days was structured very well. On most days, the days ran according to the schedule. There was often enough time in the evenings to socialise and partake in evening activities organised.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There were a lot of students with all sorts of degree backgrounds which makes it all the more exciting. The insight had a great atmosphere when the students were allowed to mingle and relax in an informal setting.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm dedicated their time and resources and provided us with a unique learning experience. The firm also employed external speakers whom were specialists in their field which contributed to the successful training environment.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It definitely gave me a good idea of the nature of the work, but as it was only an insight understanding what it would be like to have a full time role was marginally touched on.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight gave us an understanding of the history of the firm, its values and thus its culture. From my experience it looks like a great place to work for.

  • The experience generally was invaluable as it made me understand which division was right for me. This was only possible through the diverse presentations from various division experts.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • All expenses were reimbursed. We also received a lot of insight day products, such as pencils etc.


  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were ample opportunities, usually at lunch time and there was a large dinner during the insight where we got to network all evening!

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • As with most networking opportunities, they are what you make of them. I was fortunate that I got to speak to a variety of individuals and obtain some contacts. Hopefully these will aid in the future. On the whole the networking opportunities were very useful.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • They stressed that these were time permitting! Activities range from the usual sports activities to other various networks.

  • I would definitely recommend this insight to someone who is considering a career in the banking industry.
