    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoy coming to work every day! I can't express enough how much I have enjoyed my time working for Discovery and working with my team, the year is going far too quick!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel that I am a valued team member.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I sit next to my boss and we chat every day, if I have a query she is always willing to help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Obviously some days are busier than others but there is always something to do.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I have been given a lot of responsibility - I prepare the majority of clips for presentations and events, send a weekly update to the team, research potential talent, research content for programmes etc

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel that the placement has been invaluable, the skills will definitly help me to get a job once my placement is over.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in my office is great, I really get on with everyone in my team.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • What was great about my placement is that I got the opportunity to make it my own, my boss was very supportive in letting me create my own experience and working on tasks/programmes that I had an interest in.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was able to work with other production companies on some of our productions, by the time my internship is over I should have worked with 2 production companies on 3 different programmes, its great to have additional industry experience working as a runner/researcher, I made new contacts and gained more credits.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I could apply for other roles within the company but there is not a role available for me within my team, if I could continue working with them I would but I know the best thing for my career would be to move on and the team agree and are very helpful in aiding me to make the next step after Discovery by introducing me to other production teams.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The interns occasionally meet for lunch or go out for drinks after work.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I am from the north and moving to London was quite a shock as its very expensive, my friends are renting flats and houses for less than I am paying for one room in a flat! Socialising is also more expensive with drinks and cinema tickets more expensive than my home prices.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are plenty of bars and restaurants in Chiswick - but I don't go out much in the area.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Enjoy Work provides many activities from running club, guitar lessons and in the summer they had an event in the plaza every week.

    4/5
