    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great insight into the inner operations of an International Project Office.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Felt neglected at times with lack of communication between manager/buddy. Although, they are typically based in London and were very busy. Thankfully, I always had something to do.

    2/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Weekly team calls were scheduled. Although, these were more about how much work you've done rather than a support session.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Depends on current and upcoming workflows.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My work formed the basis of an automated report currently used across the global project management organisation. Was allowed to input my own ideas and lead key initiatives.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Verizon invest a huge amount in training and development. I had a personal development plan for the year and access to a huge online learning portal to help build on competencies. Was able to study and complete both ITILv3 and Prince2 Foundation certification during my placement.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very relaxed atmosphere. You are free to head down for a coffee or a break whenever you fancy.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There were a number of networking and training events planned by the placement co-ordinator. We met with a number of senior business leaders.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Had my ITIL certification and Six Sigma certification paid by the company. Invaluable for a graduate career.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Graduate programme is still a work in progress. Although, I am hopeful I would be considered for a future position with the company in the future.

    1/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Good social scene from some of the 3 and 12 month placement students. Although, there were a number of placement students who didn't seem interested in socialising outside the office at all.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Reading is reasonably close to London so can be a little expensive. Good deals can be had if you shop around.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Reading has a reasonable social life. It's the people that make it great though!

    4/5

  • Opportunities to join sporting societies and activities ran by the social committee.
